The story of this coffee starts with he Mocca Plantation Coffee Company. Moplaco, as it is known was started almost 50 years ago as an exporter of high quality green coffee from Ethiopia. Fast forward, the company is now run by 4th generation coffee lover Heleanna Georgalis, a committed and dedicated professional whose focus goes far beyond accessing the highest quality of coffee. As stated on their website Coffee is produced by people, and most specifically women. We strive to give opportunities to those women, either within our company or with programs that target the schools around us and hence their children. That is why they have community projects such as schools in Yirgacheffe as well helping people become more independent by building beehives to sustain an income.

This coffee is produced in Moplacos very own farm Kawo Kamina near the beautiful Sheka forest a Unesco dedicated biosphere reserve. With its dense vegetation the trees provide shade for the coffee trees allowing them to slowly ripen the fruits in turn creating the wonderful flavour of these Ethiopian coffees. Once ripe the red cherries are carefully picked, sorted and laid out on raised African beds that will ensure proper air flow and even sun drying.
